However, in a coffee garden, there will always be a percentage of 1% to 8% of the coffee beans that do not develop normally but as a mutant. These coffee pods do not give two flat seeds, but inside the pods only develop a single round seed, which is call Peaberry Coffee (Vietnamese call "Culi")

    In fact, there is no coffee tree named Peaberry coffee, but Peaberry coffee is located on the same Robusta or Arabica coffee tree. Peaberry coffee is a mutant coffee on the tree. Looking at the outside of these two fruits on the same coffee tree, it is difficult to distinguish. However, if we observe carefully in many seasons, especially when the fruit is ripe, the seeds inside are fully developed, we can also identify them.

     Peaberry coffee at first glance looks a bit like soybeans, the difference is that Peaberry coffee is bigger than soybeans, heavier and has a longer groove. In particular, the soybeans is very round, while the Peaberry coffee is a bit oval, so the Peaberry coffee will be longer than the soybeans. Because of the same round shape, some people who are not familiar with them may confuse these two types of seeds.

At dark roasted level, Peaberry coffee will have a very deep aftertaste and quite "bitter" taste.

       In Vietnam, this coffee is often called Culi coffee, in English it is Peaberry and in Spanish it is Caracol. Peaberry coffee will be selected, separated from the normal flat coffee and sold as a separate coffee line.

A cup of coffee made with dark roasted Peaberry coffee will appeal to you with the smell of herbs mixed with chocolate smell, a bit bitter taste with a long aftertaste. 

        The Peaberry coffee we provided to our partners is used for distribution as a separate product line or to be mixed with other coffee lines, resulting in a range of products with unique flavors. However, because the taste of Peaberry coffee is not harmonious when enjoyed alone, so we usually use it for mixing, unless the customer requires 100% Peaberry coffee.
